Vinales Valley is a must-see in Cuba. The place is only two hours away from Havana and its main attractions can be experienced in just one day. This fact made us set up a day trip from Havana, and start offering a cheap option for travelers as an alternative to overnights.
Our car will pick you up at your place at 8:00 AM, it means you’ll arrive in the valley around 10:00 AM. Our driver will have a schedule, so he will as act as your guide. IMPORTANT: If you don’t speak Spanish and you want to get a deep insight into the valley, we suggest you hire a private guide. Also, keep in mind that if you hire a private guide, only four passengers can go on this trip.
The first spot to visit in our itinerary is Cueva del Indio. We selected this place as the first one because this is the most famous cave in the valley and everybody goes there, so we don’t want our guests to spend one hour or more standing and waiting in a long line. This requires each guest to pay an entrance fee of 10 CUC.
In this first place, you’ll be able to buy a drink called Guararon, it’s made with a mixture of Guarapo (sugar cane’s juice), Rum and Ice. The drink is very refreshing and costs about 3 CUC.
Before getting into the cave, you’ll see an ancient ritual, practiced by the first people who lived in the valley. if you’re lucky you might be selected to participate as part of the ceremony.
The only way to get out of the cave is by boat. You’ll enjoy a short boat ride, it doesn’t require you to pay anything extra, the ride is included in the entrance fee.
After you exit the cave, you’ll find our driver waiting for you. he can help you to take awesome pictures in beautiful natural spots.
There are several restaurants countryside style where you can buy traditional food, however, our driver can suggest the best one.
Vinales Valley is a wonderful place to get in touch with nature. You’ll find many animals which you can feed and play with.
Our driver will take you to another cave, it’s called Cueva del Cimarrón. This one is shorter than the first one, so you won’t have problems at all to get inside. The place is full of history and ancient myths.
After you exit the cave, you can take a short ride in a rustic carriage, which will border the mountain and will get you back to the main entrance to meet our driver.
The next point in our itinerary is El Fortín, a zip-line station. The price for the service is 8 CUC per person. A professional guide will be assigned to assist you during the activity.
After this, the route continues to Mural de la Prehistoria, a beautiful mountain painted in one of their sides, showing prehistorical humans and animals.
Then, the driver will take you to a tobacco farm. There you’ll learn the whole procedure of plantation and fabrication of Cuban’s Habanos.
The next step is a visit to a local restaurant for having lunch. Prices are under 10 CUC per person generally.
The last point to visit before leaving is El Mirador del Valle. This is the place where the most beautiful pictures of the valley are taken from.
Well, that’s all. Time to get back home. You’ll leave Vinales by 5:00 PM. Remember that this is a private tour, so we’re flexible with the itinerary. If you prefer to skip some activities and add new places to visit we can make it. If you want to ride horses we can take you to the right place for that.
As we described above, you must bring some cash with you because the price we charge only includes transportation. In the Valley, you must pay for lunch, entry fee to the caves and horseback riding if desired.
*NOTE: We have Minivans for big groups, up to 8 passengers. This option costs 270 USD.
